Despite the latest airbag and braking technologies, driving in a car is still incredibly dangerous. Ultimately, car manufacturers can install as many failsafe methods as they can devise, but human error is still going to cause car accidents around the country. State laws vary so make sure you work with the right personal injury attorney for your area but federal laws are usually reasonably consistent. The number of Americans who die every year from car accidents is incredibly tragic, even more so considering the amount of reckless or negligent behavior that causes preventable collisions.

Woman Dies After Getting Hit by Car One Evening
According to CBS Minnesota, a motorist hit a woman with his car last week in Minneapolis. The woman died, and as authorities believe alcohol may have been a factor, they have put the driver in custody. Onlookers called police to the site of the accident at approximately 8:30 in the evening.
When officers arrived at the scene of the crash, they found the 57-year-old woman injured after getting hit by a car. Authorities airlifted her to a local hospital, where she died later that night. Police identified the man, also 57 years old, and have taken him into custody on suspicion of criminal activity; he was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
The accident is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet released the name of the victim. If the woman has family, it’s likely they can sue, especially if the man was intoxicated while driving. An experienced personal injury lawyer may be able to help them get the compensation they deserve, so they can grieve without worrying about any financial strains.
Personal Injury Cases Becoming Easier as Recorded Surveillance Increases
There are pros and cons of rapidly changing technologies; for example, the spread of smartphones has led to an increase in distracted driving. However, states have since enacted laws banning texting and playing on smartphones while driving, and officials are hard at work making the roads safer for motorists and pedestrians alike.
One of the benefits to nearly everyone having a camera handy is the rapid increase in documentation of crimes, especially in regard to personal injury cases. This makes it easier for companies such as Jim Dodson Law to win a case if the video shows that you are not at fault as there is concrete evidence. If you’ve been injured because of someone else’s negligent behavior and decide to file a claim, a good personal injury attorney will encourage you to gather any evidence you might have demonstrating the offending party’s guilt. Lexology reminds readers that video evidence, whether from surveillance footage, a camera or a smartphone, can be invaluable when it comes to supporting personal injury claims.
